We need to thank so many people for making the 5th Annual Cougar Golf Classic such a success.

First of all, to the golfers, this event would not happen without you. You came, you played, you bought auction items, and you had fun!
Next, the sponsors. Thank you for your generosity. The support from local (and far away) businesses is humbling. Your support is the backbone to our fundraising. Your donations allow us the freedom to run a successful program for ALL kids. We had a record number of tee sponsors this year with 76. Wow! The contributions large and small are so appreciated.

Also we had a record number of Hole in Ones available to golfers. Thank you to the dealerships that allowed this opportunity. DCH Toyota for the Scion, Tilly Marine for the ski boat, Wm Morris Chevrolet for the F150 Truck, and Billy Jones for the S-Class Mercedes.

Lastly, the committee members. We began work on the 2007 Cougar Golf Classic back in June. Meeting after meeting, phone calls and follow-ups. Our committee was driven to make this the best tournament yet, and they did! The people who made this event tick are as follows: Billy Jones-Golfers, Michele Horwitz and Susan Heller-Auction/Raffle, Pat Frank, Jim Cole, Ken Martinez, Tim Laubacher, Dean Prophet-Sponsorships, Wendi Carrasco, Debra Reeves-Goodie Bags, Steve Soule, Dave Brubaker-Publicity, Felix Cortez-Program. And those “indispensables” Leslie Carpenter and Paul Tafoya.

With the proceeds from this fundraiser we will have the ability to purchase new uniforms, practice gear, supply more balls, nets, training equipment, attend additional tournaments, hire additional coaches, allow for the program to pay for tournament and summer travel expenses for the players, give the kids team sweatshirts, polos and t-shirts, pay for meals during travel, and many, many more things. The money raised improves the quality of the entire athletic experience for these kids.

Dear Friends,

In June of this year the wheels began to spin in anticipation of the 5^th Annual Cougar Golf Classic to be held on October 6^th, 2007. Three months of preparation by many volunteers culminated in a wonderful day of golf and fun at Elkins Ranch Golf Course. The weather could not have been nicer for the 138 golfers who enjoyed the 80 degree weather and classic scenic backdrops of our local mountain ranges and orange groves. Following the golf tournament 160 friends and family members joined the golfers for our annual tri-tip dinner and the popular auction and raffle. The award ceremony recognized special individuals whose efforts played a big part in the Cougar Golf Classic's success. The talented golfers who won their respective flights were also recognized for their skills.

There are so many individuals and business's in our community whose efforts and kindness were an inspiration for all of us involved in the organizing of this special event. Some of these individuals volunteered to join our planning committee early on and their efforts and contributions were critical to our success. Thank you to Tom Coulter, George Ito, Pat Frank, Leslie Henley, Dave Brubaker, Susan Heller, Tim Laubacher, Ann and Dan Larson, Ron Ulreich, Edra Marsh, Carol Feuerborn, Michele Horwitz, Mike York, Karin Clark, and Caryn Woodburn. All of you are so special to the Cougar Family. Of course there are so many others who participated in the auction/raffle committee and the actual golf day responsibilities as well, and I would like to extend a grateful thank you to all of you as well.

As we extended ourselves into our local community we found some very thoughtful and caring Sponsors whose assistance helped in putting on this special event. Again, a special debt of gratitude goes out to such sponsors as Naturipe, TWIW Insurance Services and Staben Equipment. Fast Parts Affiliates, Hammer-Hewson Associates, Avnet, Natural Choice Foods and Tom and Barbara Coulter should also be recognized for their contributions to this worthy cause. There are countless other local business's and individuals whose kindness for this worthy cause will always be special to us. We have tried our best to acknowledge all of you in other places on this website.

Lastly, I would like to extend my personal gratitude to all the volunteers and sponsors who recognize the importance of high school athletics as a source of development and growth for our young student-athletes. And it is through your generosity that our sons and daughters can realize some of their goals and dreams.
